Field Condition
Project, 2014
Saint Paul, Minnesota
In Collaboration with Futures North
Field Condition is a dynamic, interactive public art piece proposed for the west plaza of CHS Field, a new minor-league ballpark in Lowertown St. Paul, MN. It is a wall-mounted sculpture, consisting of 735 cut aluminum baseball bats. LED lights are embedded in the end of each bat and create an interactive field of pixels on which animations are projected. The dynamic behavior of the lighting is informed by three-dimensional swing patterns collected from baseball and softball players from across the state of Minnesota.
