Drawing Codes: Experimental Protocols of Architectural Representation opens January 17 at the Hubbell Street Galleries at California College of the Arts in San Francisco. Organized by the CCA Digital Craft Lab and co-curated by Adam Marcus and Andrew Kudless, the show features 22 commissioned works exploring the impact of new technologies on the relationship between code and drawing. The exhibition includes a work from 100 Walls, a new series of experimental drawings by Variable Projects. Other architects participating in the show include Viola Ago, Kelly Bair, Kristy Balliet, Curime Batliner, Erin Besler, Amy Campos, Thom Faulders, Nataly Gattegno & Jason Kelly Johnson, Andrew Heumann, Janette Kim, Joris Komen, Andrew Kovacs, Andrew Kudless, Jimenez Lai, Elena Manferdini, Neeraj Bhatia, Dwayne Oyler & Jenny Wu,Ron Rael & Virginia San Fratello, Clark Thenhaus, and Michael Young & Kutan Ayata.
The opening reception is Thursday, January 19 5:30-7:30pm, and the show runs until February 4.
Accompanying the exhibition will be a series of informal talks and presentations by the participating architects, beginning with a curator's talk by Adam Marcus and Andrew Kudless on Friday, January 20 at the Digital Craft Lab. See the DCL website for more info.
