Glimmer, a new project by Variable Projects, debuted at the Market Street Prototyping Festival in San Francisco on October 6, 2016. The project, selected in an international design competition, was commissioned by Yerba Buena Center for the Arts and San Francisco Planning Department as a prototype for new models of public engagement along Market Street, the city's main thoroughfare. The interactive installation consists of over 3,000 colorful hanging cords that provide a playful and inviting environment for passersby. Thousands of people interacted with the installation throughout the duration of the four-day festival.
